Wonderful food, big portion sizes and well paced in terms of keeping a group of 16 fed in the private dining room. Service very attentive and Nicole was very helpful and friendly. Atmosphere was interesting as we booked the private room and the rest of the rest was closed. So pretty quiet and had full attention of staff. Room little chilly to start with but they turned up the heaters and it was fine after that. Would definitely return!

This is one of my favourite restaurants in Australia. Oversight from French trained owner / chef Scott Pickett means you won’t find tastier. On my last visit I had the dry-aged rib eye and it was as sensational as expected. Will always return here. Staff are also knowledgeable and friendly.

We came for brunch. For the price point (most dishes approaching $30), some of the dishes were pretty small and some of our bread was burnt. The eggs were poached nicely. The restaurant itself was lit very dimly.

Matilda has the most beautiful atmosphere and caring staff - we came as a group of 8 and the staff were beyond accommodating to my dietary requirements of gluten, dairy and garlic free. Chefs and servers worked their magic to completely transform a dish on the menu to suit my allergies. I’m blown away by the patience and creativity they held to accomplish this. Presentation of food was gorgeous and the interior of the building was calm, romantic and warm. Thank you again Matilda for a wonderful night!

A fantastic showcase of Aussie produce, Matilda is an excellent place to take friends from interstate or overseas. The presentation of all meals was impressive, with amazing flavours. The service was friendly and attentive, and all waiters knew the menu well and where everything was sourced from.

It was a spiritual experience all on its own, and one of the greatest culinary experiences I have had in recent memory. I highly recommend people check this place out if they want their perception of food changed forever.

Matilda is a great looking place, really nicely presented and, I am told, very good with meat plates. It is not a place where one feels catered for when one has dietary requirements. Portions are small, though nicely presented.

If you're planning to go with a big group of 7 or more, I'd say skip this place. They won't let you choose from the menu, and that's a bummer. Now, let's talk about the good stuff. The service and atmosphere were awesome, totally 5-star-worthy! The folks serving our table were total pros and kept our glasses filled up like champs. But here's the kicker - it cost around $1800 for 8ppl, drinks included, and I gotta say it wasn't worth the dough. We were a gang of 8, all pumped up to celebrate a birthday, but guess what? We realized we had no food options once we sat. We had to eat whatever the restaurant threw at us, all at full price, with no say in the matter. Seriously, that ruined the whole experience, and that's why I'd give it a generous 2-star rating. The manager, Matt, did try to make things right before we walked out the door. We had a nice long chat, and I have to give him a solid 5 for his approach and listening patiently but I don't think he had much say in the setup. Next time, I'm taking my hard-earned cash and precious time elsewhere. No way am I going back, and I definitely won't be recommending this joint to anyone.
